Over 10 years ago, Buzz was commissioned to make a giant sculpture from consumer rubbish for Litter UK. Five years ago he formed the Field of Sound with a musician friend named Matt. Early project ideas included a sculpture made from a million aluminium cans, broadcasting music and news 24 hours a day. These thoughts focussed into a permanent structure, a sculptural building, as an information centre with offshore power generating capabilities (see artist's impression above). Two years ago this project was given a grant for a feasibility study. A large tidal power project planned elsewhere has recognised the Field of Sound's quarry site for such an enterprise, and so the sustainable cathedral is born.
